Rationale
- The majority of the Zimbabwean citizens are not covered by medical aid.
- Stringent (payslip, advance payment, age restriction, existing medical conditions) requirements by existing medical aid societies for joining.
- Lack of innovative ways by existing societies to capture the informal and non-salaried groups.
How (Informal sector/ Self-employed)
- Engage various associations such as Farmers Associations, Cross Boarder Traders, Vendors, Security Guards.
- Physical visits by agents e.g. artisanal miners, peasant farmers.
- Student health plans.
- Establish Community health schemes in partnerships with local health service providers.
- Establish strategic partnerships with various institutions such as GMB, TIMB etc. for payment platforms.
- Design tailor made packages suitable for the informal sector and low-income groups.
- Establish flexible payment plans including daily, weekly, monthly & seasonal.
